It is way easier than most folks that haven't pulled a load before realize to pull a load with a ball puller, especially on a clean barrel. If you don't already have one, get one with the brass ring that keeps the screw centered in the barrel. Screw it in and pull it. It will come out easy if the barrel was clean when it was loaded.. I shot about a 110lb deer in the upper shoulder with a 72cal pure lead round ball out of my fowler. The only deer I have shot with the gun. I was using 100 gr of 1F, the distance was about 25 yards. I pulled the nipple and clean out screw and pushed the ball closer to the breech. There was no powder under it so I dribbled in about 20 grains of 3f and replaced the screw and nipple. With the older eyes I changed the iron sights on the Lyman Great Plains rifle to the Lyman fiber optic sights. The rear hi vis green are ok but the front red is no better than the old iron sight. Was wondering if possible to take out the red fiber optic rod and replace with a green hi vis rod piece.You can find the bench design online or in Chris Schwarz's book "Workbenches". Out to 80 yards a 58 with 140 grains is going to abuse the shooter about as much as it will abuse the deer if ranges are around 80 yards or less. That might be a good load for larger game, but over kill for deer. I've killed deer with a 50 with about 80 grains of 2f and it did just fine.Stabbed in that outline, back cut all the edges, gouged out the middle of the mortice and then flattened the bottom and cleaned up the mortice. The side plate went right in. I think it took me 20 minutes to outline the plate and cut the mortice. I am definitely finding that Edward Marshall rifle in the slab of wood.May 6, 2014. "Bedding Compound" AKA "Glass Bedding" AKA "Epoxy Bedding" are all terms to describe using some kind of epoxy to fill up voids, offer a better fit of parts (like the tang and breech to a stock) or even repair broken/cracked stocks.One of the most wonderful stocks I had ever held in my hands. The barrel channel was 1 " and 37 " long . Adding another inch to it made it 38" , Perfect for a .62 cal. by 1" longrifle for deer. It too was a tack driver that killed any deer you shot at. The shear beauty of the wood in the rifle made me love it.

I have carefully ground the remaining 1/2 of the broken screw head off with a dremel tool, removed the other screw and patch box. You will then be able to remove the broken screw shank with a good pair of plyers or small vice grips.What it looks like, does matter. There are some Yazel pistols that fit the forums idea of what is traditional so, if they look like the pistols that were used in 1866 or earlier, they are allowed.
